Shell Rotella® T4 NG Plus 15W-40 performed above benchmark in a variety of tests for engine types ranging from Natural Gas to Passenger Car.

• Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Oil Tests:
  • Strong wear performance in Cummins ISM, which measures valve train wear under moderate soot loading.
    
  • Excellent wear performance in MACK T-12, which measures ring and liner wear inside the cylinder.
    
  • Provides excellent copper and lead corrosion protection
    
  • Provides strong oxidation resistance in the Volvo T-13 test, controlling harmful acid build up, and easily exceeding the API CK-4 limits for oxidation (Peak IR) and viscosity increase for longer service life. Oxidation protection is key for preventing oil breakdown.
• Natural Gas Engine Oil Test:
  
  • 20% above the limit in the CES 20092 Cummins Oxidation and Power Cylinder Test (COP). This is a natural gas engine test in the CES 20092 specification to test oxidation and lead wear. Natural gas engines run even hotter than diesel engines, so oxidation protection is critical in these applications.
    
  • Doubles the oil drain interval in some Cummins natural gas engines versus oils meeting the previous specification

• Passenger Car Motor Oil Test:
  
  • API SN performance category has tests for low and high temperature deposits, wear, oxidation and corrosion. Cam Wear test average was 74% below the limit (lower is better,) Bearing weight loss was 85% below the limit (lower is better) and 13% above the limit in sludge and varnish deposits (higher is better.)
