Houston – Shell ROTELLA® has created the next installment of their short-form documentary series, Unsung – A life in the day of hard work. The newest film highlights Keith Allen and how his passion for quality barbeque, combined with his hard work and dedication enabled him to launch his own business where he serves up great barbecue. Unsung is a part of the continuing efforts by Shell ROTELLA® to tell the gripping stories of unsung heroes who are working in a variety of behind-the-scenes vocations across North America.

“The Shell ROTELLA® brand is turning up the heat up with our next hard working hero,” said Chris Guerrero, global brand manager, Shell ROTELLA®. “This segment of our Unsung series features a true barbeque pit master who understands hard work and knows there are no shortcuts to creating barbecue perfection.”

The documentary is making its debut in Concord, N.C. at the 32nd annual Shell ROTELLA® SuperRigs, the premier truck beauty contest for actively working trucks. The film featured at http://bit.ly/unsungBBQ provides a glimpse into the hard working life of Keith Allen, a barbeque master and restaurant owner who is dedicated to serving the best barbecue to his customers:

  • Keith Allen, owner of Allen & Son Bar-B-Que since 1970, is known for splitting hickory with a fiery vengeance and catering for local community gatherings. Keith grew up working on his grandparents’ farm in Burlington N.C. and around his father’s cooking. One Saturday afternoon in his late twenties, Keith was having a meal with some friends at a barbecue joint in Chapel Hill and knew he could do a better job at smoking meat and frying hushpuppies. Keith’s dedication to the “craft of ‘cue” begins at 2 a.m. each morning when he starts smoking fires and turning meat, and makes more than fifteen different desserts from his grandfather’s recipes. But what really brings people back for more is Keith’s dedication to his craft, and, of course, that vinegar-based Carolina barbecue.

“Every batch of barbeque is its own reward and is the result of passion, focus and a commitment to excellence,” says Guerrero. “Keith works hard to create the best quality barbecue for his customers and all of those qualities are something we can relate to – because we strive to create the best engine oil to support hard working drivers everywhere.”

From coast to coast, the Shell ROTELLA® Unsung series goes on the road to find and showcase the compelling, surprising and unexpected stories of the hard work that helps drive our everyday lives. Shell ROTELLA® introduced the series last fall and provided insight into the hard working lives of people working in construction, snow plowing, ranching, logging and farming. The original films have been viewed more than 1.8 million times on YouTube. The documentaries are featured at www.youtube.com/rotellaunsung and provide a glimpse into the hardworking lives of all our heroes.
